Not Quite Spring Flowers

This was my casual and comfy, yet Library appropriate, work outfit from yesterday. I almost changed about ten times, because everything I was wearing was so grey, but comfort won out. Plus, I felt like the necklace was the real star of my ensemble anyway, and it stood out nicely. It was a Christmas present from my Mother-in-law, and it matches this recently thrifted  purple-flecked sweater very well.

Today  we are having yet another snowstorm, despite the fact that tomorrow is the first official day of Spring. Apparently, if I want to see flowers, I will have to wear them in the form of clothing and accessories for now.

Cozy

I am ready for some Spring brights! But then, every morning when I get dressed, I end up back in monochrome, or subdued shades.

Today is a day of being home with my little one, getting things done around the house, running errands…nothing fancy. This whole family has been under the weather lately, so coziness and comfort are important today.

This was also my first time using my tripod, instead of bothering Jeramy to take my outfit pictures. It was a little bit awkward at first, and my facial expressions were a bit weird, but now I think I am getting the hang of it!

Style Imitating Art: in Grey and Blue

Caspar David Friedrich’s The Wanderer Above A Sea Of FogThis week I am joining in with “Style Intimating Art“, which is a fun style blogger challenge run by the ladies of Animated Cardigan and 14 Shades Of Grey. This week, the piece selected is “The Wanderer Above A Sea Of Fog” by Caspar David Friedrich. A very monochromatic and moody piece. My outfit today was inspired by the color scheme of the painting, as well as the foggy atmosphere and rocky landscape.

I wore my grey and white flecked sweater, which represented fog, along with the grey tights. My denim skirt, tee, and nail polish pull in the blue shades and mood of the painting. (I tend to own darker blues, since I am already pale, and pastel colors can sometimes wash me out.) Finally, my belt, boots, and the stone beads of my necklace pull in the rocks.

This challenge is a lot of fun and I cannot wait to do it again!
